Applies to VoipNow 3 and higher!

This article describes how to configure the VoipNow SIP preferences if your server has a valid domain name assigned to it.

Step-by-step guide

If you want your phones to register using a domain name instead of the server IP address, please do the following:

STEP 1: Open the Unified Communications > Zero Priority > SIP tab.

STEP 2: Fill in your server domain name in the Accept SIP requests to domain:port text box available in the Advanced SIP Server Preferences fieldset.

Note

Do not fill in the domain names of your customers, as it will cause unexpected behavior! This field serves only for adding aliases that belong to your own server!

Once you add the domain name, all your phone terminals configured to register to the VoipNow server using the IP address will still be able to do so. If you want a device to register using the provided server domain name, then you have to update its settings and replace the IP address with the domain name.
