This page contains instructions on how to install or upgrade VoipNow in the operating system command line.

Installation

OS Recommendation

For all new installations, we strongly recommend Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 Update 4 (or newer) or CentOS 7.4 running on 64 bit. Before proceeding with the installation of VoipNow on a new server:

Make sure you have reviewed the Release Notes, as they always contain important advice regarding the upgrade.
Check if the date and time on that server are correct. Using a NTP service to keep the clock synchronized is required.

Download and run installer

To install VoipNow:

Log in to your server as root using SSH from any client operating system.
Download the installer script on your server by executing the command below.
curl "http://www.4psa.com/software/voipnowinstaller.sh" -o voipnowinstaller.sh -L
Run the installer script by executing the following command.
sh voipnowinstaller.sh

Wait patiently as the installer downloads all the packages from the repository, installs them, and configures the system.

Upgrade

VoipNow 5 upgrade notes

If you're upgrading to VoipNow 5.x from VoipNow 4.1.3 or a previous version, please run the database upgrader as specified in the Release Notes.

Before you start

Make sure that you understand the implications of the upgrade.

During a software upgrade process, all phone calls might be dropped. Consequently, it is recommended that you perform such upgrades outside business hours.
The upgrade might take several minutes, especially on systems with large databases. DO NOT interrupt the VoipNow Installer by pressing CTRL-C or rebooting the system, as your upgrade might become inconsistent!
The upgrade process will take longer if there are many call history records in database.

Download and run the installer

To upgrade VoipNow:

Log in to your server as root using SSH from any client operating system.
Download the latest installer script on your server by executing the command below.
curl "http://www.4psa.com/software/voipnowinstaller.sh" -o voipnowinstaller.sh -L
Run the installer script by executing the following command.
sh voipnowinstaller.sh
