Overview

To be able use VoipNow, you need to have a license. The license key is generated based on the Infrastructure ID of your VoipNow system. The Infrastructure ID is explained down below.

The License Management page allows you to:

  • view the current license status and the utilization permissions
  • update your license

VoipNow licenses

Clients can easily plan their costs according to the communication requirements of their infrastructures. The maximum number of SIP trunking channels is given by the license and user types.

The number of SIP trunking channels is computed based on the total number of Maximum public concurrent calls set for the users.

You cannot enable SIP trunking if the Maximum public concurrent calls is set to Unlimited. For more information, refer to the User Limits section.

Manage licenses

To set up license options, go to Unified CommunicationsSettingsLicense Management. You will have to fill in some fields that are detailed below.

License key status

These options detail the status of the uploaded license key.

  • Infrastructure ID: Your system's infrastructure ID; the license key must be issued for this ID, otherwise it will not work.
  • System IP address: Your system's IP address; displayed if the Infrastructure ID field is empty.
  • License key status: The status of the currently loaded license key.

New license

This is where you can upload a new license key from your computer or activate the VoipNow Platform with the help of a code.

  • Use activation code: When enabled, this option allows you to use an activation code instead of uploading a license key.
  • License key file: Upload the license key to the server. Click the Browse button to locate the license key file on your computer. To finalize the activation, click Upload. This option is not available if Use activation code is checked.
  • Activation code: Fill in the activation code that will be used to extend the license. This option is only available if Use activation code is checked.

VoipNow allows you to upload a license without Automation support even if this server is currently enrolled as a node in Automation. In this case, the following warning message is displayed in the upper page.

This VoipNow infrastructure is enrolled in VoipNow Automation. The present license does not expose Automation functionality. All Automation tasks will be stopped until you upload a proper license.

Get license key from the licensing server

Use the form to query the licensing server. This function can only be used when a license key is loaded on the server. The first time you install the product, it is required to upload the license key.

The Last licensing server answer field refers to the answer received on the last query from the license server. Click the Get license button to obtain a new answer from the license server.

License key properties

This area contains a report with details about the current license.

The software edition, which determines the number of options the user can access: Service Provider

License key numberThe current loaded license key number.
Licensing program

The licensing program the software belongs to. Several values are available:

  • If leased: Basic Cloud Licensing or Full Cloud Licensing.
  • If evaluation: Evaluation.
  • If express: Express.
  • If a sponsored licensing program: Sponsored First License Program, Sponsored for Non Profit Organization.
Maximum number of extensionsMaximum number of extensions that VoipNow will handle.
Maximum number of calling cards IDs

Maximum number of calling cards IDs that VoipNow will handle, as defined for the selected license type. Total number of existing cards is computed based on the number of active calling cards in the system.

e.g If the limit is 50 and there are 60 calling cards in the system, from which only 45 are active, then you can still add other 5 cards until the license limit will be reached.

Maximum number of callback callerIDs

Maximum number of callback callerIDs that VoipNow will handle, as defined for the selected license type. The total number of existing CallerIDs is computed based on the number of active callback CallerIDs in the system.

e.g. If the limit is 50 and in the system there are 60 callback CallerIDs from which only 45 are active, then you can still add other 5 CallerIDs until the license limit will be reached.

Maximum number of SIP trunking channelsTotal number of SIP trunking channels allowed by the current license, computed based on the algorithm described above.
Enabled for Automation

If your license supports this feature (the value is Yes), the current server can be an agent in Automation and it can be used as a deployment server. The maximum number of customer accounts that can be added in Automation is given by the VoipNow license.
If the value is No, your license does not offer Automation support and the server cannot be used for enrollment.
The Evaluation license type does not offer Automation support at all. When this line is not displayed, the current server can be used as an agent, but the customer limitations are imposed by the VoipNow Automation license.
The VoipNow Automation installation offers standard support for one customer account. If the user requires more than one, than he/she must purchase the proper license.
If a user purchased a VoipNow license with Automation enabled and enrolled the server as an Automation agent, but later changed the license type to one that does not support this feature, then he/she will NOT be able to add customer accounts anymore.
