Hardware Compatibility List

This document contains the hardware requirements for VoipNow. These requirements apply to both single node and distributed deployments.

VoipNow is certified to run on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 (RHEL8) and compatible distributions (AlmaLinux 8, Rocky Linux 8).

Hardware Requirements

Generally, hardware nodes should be deployed with these requirements in mind:

ComponentMinimumRecommended
Architecturex86_64 (64-bit)x86_64 (64-bit)
CPUIntel Xeon or AMD EPYC, 8 cores, AES-NI supportIntel Xeon or AMD EPYC, 12+ cores, AES-NI support
RAM16 GB32 GB or more
Storage (System)240 GB SSD480 GB SSD, fault-tolerant (RAID)
Storage (Data)500 GB1 TB or more (not required with cloud object storage)
Network1 Gbps10 Gbps

"Important"

AES-NI instruction support is mandatory for optimal encryption performance.

Virtualization Requirements

In case of virtualization, we highly recommend:

  • Do not over-provision RAM and CPU
  • Have at least 1 CPU reservation
  • Use paravirtualized drivers for best performance

Partitioning Scheme

The following partitioning scheme is recommended:

PartitionSpace
/boot1024 MB
/boot/efi600 MB (UEFI systems only)
/tmp4096 MB
/Minimum 300 GB
/dataMinimum 1 TB (not required with cloud object storage)

RHEL8 Certified Hardware

VoipNow runs on RHEL8-compatible systems. The following hardware vendors have RHEL8-certified server systems. For the complete and updated list, please check the Red Hat Ecosystem Catalog.
