This document describes how can a node be edited.

Overview

If you run a single node installation, you are allowed to edit all the node options (Hostname, Private IP, Public IP). Just click on the nodeID in the Nodes List. You can change all the role's parameters with a click on the role's name, also in the Nodes List.

In case of a distributed installation, editing a node might be complicated or even impossible. Depends on what you want to edit. Remember that we deal with two objects:

  • a node that runs a role
  • a role that is assigned on the node

Edit Node and Assigned Roles

Edit node parameters

You are allowed to edit all the node's options:

  • Hostname
  • Private IP
  • Public IP

Edit role parameters

This depends on the status of the node.

This means that the node is new to the infrastructure or it has been already deactivated. In this case most of the things can be edited.

Intended ActionPossibility
Edit the role's fields

All fields are editable (under the same role), except for the nodeID.

Change the assigned role

This is possible but the existing role must be deleted first using the [Delete Assignment] link.

Delete the node

This is possible using the [Delete Node] link.

Deactivate the node

This is not possible.

Fix the node

This is not possible.

This is a soon to be activated or just deactivated node.

Intended ActionPossibility
Edit the role's fields

All fields are editable (under the same role), except for the nodeID.

Change the assigned role

This is not possible.

Delete the node

This is possible using the [Delete Node] link.

Deactivate the node

This is possible only when the node is stand-by.
In this case the node goes directly to Deactivated (not necessary to go through Deactivate Pending).

Fix the node

This is not possible.

This means that the node is functioning in the infrastructure.

Intended ActionPossibility
Edit the role's fields

Only Customer Connectivity is editable, assuming that the role exposes this property.

Change the assigned role

This is not possible.

Delete the node

This is not possible.

Deactivate the node

This is possible only for the following types of nodes:

  • Queue
  • HTTP
Fix the node

This is not possible.

This means that the node might require reconfiguration to work after an infrastructure change was operated.

Intended ActionPossibility
Edit the role's fields

All fields are editable (under the same role), except for the nodeID.

Change the assigned roleThis is not possible.
Delete the node

This is not possible.

Deactivate the node

This is possible only for the following types of nodes:

  • Queue
  • HTTP
Fix the node

When this is clicked, a panel requiring confirmation is opened after which the node status is changed to Online.

  • No labels
